Bespoke Animation & Film Titles

Over the past ten years I’ve been asked to animate for a variety of projects – an EC Comic inspired sequence for Hollywood horror ‘Tales of Halloween’, Sergio Leone style titles for motorcycle adventure film ‘Mondo Sahara’,  Hammer horrors for the ‘Fantastiq‘ Film Festival ident,  a variety of commercial and corporate video (for local and national media campaigns including the Met Office and the RSPB) and the ‘Time Winders’ interactive game for the ‘Animated Exeter’ festival – all using a variety of disparate animation techniques.

If you have a project – great or small – and you’d like something to help it stand out from the crowd, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

Corporate video – animation and compositing

You can get more out of your brand by integrating video into your marketing. Animation can be a great way to drive a message home, bringing a video to life and visually articulating your core propositions. I have experience in motion graphics, compositing (animation within video or fusing video elements) and the creation of animated idents for a wide range of clients in varied fields.

Title Sequences and animated inserts

Nothing says quality like a good title sequence. Beyond being a roll call, your titles are your hook and should prepare, captivate and inspire. They can be a statement of intent and a microcosm of your themes. A title sequence is not bound to the same stylistic devices and approaches as the film it’s heading so I work closely with you to nail the right style and approach before any animation commences.

“Ashley designed and animated the title sequence for our horror anthology Tales of Halloween. It was a fantastic experience working with Ashley. He brought such creativity and passion to the project despite the logistical difficulties involved.  He has such a great eye for the macabre, not to mention an amazing visual dynamic that gave real life to the sequence and helped elevate the entire movie way beyond it’s low-budget roots. He’s a talent to watch!” – Neil Marshall, Director (The Descent, Game of Thrones, Hannibal)

“Ashley’s extraordinary work stopped me in my tracks. He has a style unlike anyone else; haunting, visceral and totally compelling. You can’t take your eyes off his gorgeous animation.” – Reece Shearsmith, Writer (League of Gentlemen, Psychoville, Inside No.9)

“Ashley Thorpe produced what many are describing as the greatest title sequence seen on a British film in the last decade. He is a gifted animator but far more importantly, is a cineaste, an aesthete and an artist. I know that he is without question, my first choice of animator.” – Austin Vince, Adventure Motorcyclist (Mondo Sahara)
